Humax HDR-1000S Freesat+HD <free time> 1TB Digital Box (G2 spec) The Humax HDR-1000S Freesat+HD Freetime 1TB Digital Box is the first Freesat+HD receiver to include the next generation G2 spec technology; providing high quality access to over 150 free television and radio channels, plus the ability to record up to 600 hours of SD or 250 hours of HD content on the massive in-built 1TB hard drive (twin tuner) with Freesat+. This is a G2 spec recorder. Available from Satbuyer, an authorised Humax partner.

The G2 technology within this Freesat+HD receiver will take digital television viewing to a new level, offering much more than just watching your favourite television and radio channels. Features include access to all the interactive services including on demand from BBC iPlayer, ITV Player, 4oD and Demand5, with <free time> EPG intergration allowing access to programmes missed in the last 7 days, a showcase feature and much more. NB - some of the new functionality including access to on-demand services and EPG rollback will require a broadband connection (uk ip) with a minimum speed of 2mbps (Ethernet connection required, or optional Humax USB WLAN adapter or homeplugs).

The Freesat platform uses the same satellite setup as BSkyB, so if you already have this in place and working, you'll just need to purchase the Freesat Digital Box of choice, plug in and enjoy!

A list of available channels can be found at http://www.joinfreesat.co.uk/index.php/freesat-channels

Don't forget that you'll need two cables from your satellite dish to this receiver to fully utilise the Freesat+ record functionality. With just a single cable you can still record the channel you are watching, and receive updates, but won't be able to record one channel whilst recording/watching another.

SatBuyer arranged an Excellent delivery service, received delivery in West Wales within 25 hours of ordering. Everything was packed well and the Humax HDR-1000S 1 TB Digital Box arrived in perfect condition. I was a sky SD+ customer, fed up with the ever rising costs. Now I have a great new system totally free, I also get quite a few HD channels also totally free. I find the whole system of very good quality including the remote control. It is easier to use than sky as it is intuitive and asks questions and gives you choices for you to choose. I would recommend this Freesat box to all it lives up to all it promises. Well done Satbuyer and well done Humax

What can I say about this little beauty. Incidentally the service and backup from Satbuyer is not bad either! I have the Humax HDR-1000S installed now for 4 months and it does more than I ever expected. The EPG gets 10/10 and I think better than Sky's. The Recordings menu is definitely better than Sky's (okay I came from Sky SD - maybe Sky HD's recording menu is okay?). The reception is fabulous on my Samsung Smart TV and even upscaled non HD channels are excellent. Look no further; this box does everything it claims.

Superb delivery service, as promised by Satbuyer the delivery to North Germany just took 3 working days. Everything was packed well and the Humax HDR-1000S 1 TB Digital Box arrived in perfect condition. Thumbs up for Satbuyer! Being a former Sky customer I`d like to state to the receiver this: the crew from Freesat/ Humax produced a very good product that comes close to the standard we know from sky. First of all it is quit without a noisy fan unlike our previous sky box. However, this comes with a price due to the permanent consumption of 12 W from the external working adapter; this ads up to 104 kw/h per year. The box itself works fine with the remote control that comes with clear and well arranged buttons. I don' t mind the minor clicking noises some people complained about. The EPG program guide is great and our first recordings worked well. The picture quality is convincing. This goes for all of the 150 or so channels and not only for the HD programs. We connected the receiver with our Onkyo home theater using the HDMI 1.4 interface that leaves sky behind with their HDMI 1.1 standard. This means the Humax interface is able to deliver an output resolution up to 1080 p, which is also promised in the technical specifications. After digging through the menu I noticed that the limit lies like with sky by 1080 i, which is fine but not what was advertised. Maybe a future update might bring the promised results. Another point is the audio other people mentioned as well. The Volume works normally with the HD channels - all the other channels need a boost with the remote control. I think this could be solved with another software update. This also applies to the now missing digital audio options in the menu settings. There you can choose between "stereo" and "multichannel" - both settings from old and gone analogue days. With a brand new 2013 digital receiver you can expect settings at least for "Dolby digital 5.1". The manual skips this issue entirely and leaves the costumer a bit behind. That part is definitely better solved by sky. Therefore you pay a very high price for their monthly subscription service. All in all I am rating the Humax box with very good; it brings fine television quality including a wide range of free accessible programs for a reasonable price of 250 GBP.
