The Echostar SlingLoaded® HDS-600RS is the world's first HD digital video recorder (DVR) to combine Freesat+ features with Sling Media's unique place-shifting ability, enabling TV anywhere, on all popular smartphones and tablets.
The SlingLoaded feature enables users to watch and manage their live and recorded TV remotely anytime, anywhere, via 3G or Wi-Fi, with no additional monthly fees. With Freesat+, viewers get over 150 digital channels, including HD, On Demand services and the ability to pause, rewind and record TV, all subscription free. There's seamless access to catch-up TV including BBC iPlayer, with other connected TV services including ITV Player to follow.
Once connected to your home broadband, the EchoStar HDS-600RS will Sling live or recorded TV anywhere, to your iPhone®, iPad® or Android™ smartphones or tablets, and any device supported by SlingPlayer® Mobile*, even to your Mac® or PC via SlingPlayer® (which can be accessed for free, online at uk.slingbox.com). The EchoStar HDS-600RS delivers a host of viewing options; 'live pause and rewind', simultaneously watch one show and record another, and one touch series-link via the High Definition (HD) Freesat Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) all ensure that you'll never miss a show! The 500GB hard disk drive provides huge capacity to record up to 300 hours of Standard Definition (SD) programming or up to 100 hours of HD programming. You can even connect to a compatible Dolby® Digital home cinema amplifier, using the integrated Digital Audio Port, allowing you to enjoy cinema quality sound at home. All this is packaged in a stylish unit with a touch sensitive display.

To use TV anywhere you must connect your HDS-600RS to the Internet via your broadband router. To view HD services, HD guide and upscale SD services you'll need an HD Ready TV set connected via HDMI. You can only watch your TV anywhere in standard definition; some connected TV apps may not be used with TV anywhere.

Don't forget that you'll need two cables from your satellite dish to this receiver to fully utilise the Freesat+ record functionality. With just a single cable you can still record the channel you are watching, and receive updates, but won't be able to record one channel whilst recording/watching another.

Just recently purchased one of these boxes, seems great.Only gripe would be the remote control which you will either love or hate. This box replaces my old Humax and looks a more than capable substitute. Easy to set up and the latest software update was installed via satellite within 5mins. All in all 4 stars out of 5 for me, due to the remote control handset which is a weird shape and some of the buttons are too small.

Just brought it so it's an early doors review, but so far I would say it is an excellent product. The service and delivery times for a start were top drawer from SatBuyer. The Echostar looks and feels much better in person than it does in the pictures. I had read many reviews moaning about the change from people moving from Sky to Freesat and getting used to the EPG and speed of it, but I can happily say that the EPG on the Echostar feels very fast and although vastly different from Sky it has taken me about an hour to try all the various features and it is now feeling pretty straight forward and I have no concerns that it is cumbersome, I reckon after a week or so it will be second nature just like Sky is now.
Will report back once I've got some weeks of use under by belt, but so far very pleased all round. :)
